Standing committees on which members may be asked to serve are as follows: CME Committee The committee is charged with providing sponsorship or joint-sponsorship of CME programs. Finance Committee The Finance Committee is responsible for reviewing financial records and proposing a financial plan, including a budget, for the following year. The President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Immediate Past President and Treasurer serve on this committee. The Treasurer is the Chair. Grievance Committee The Grievance Committee consists of the three Immediate Past Presidents. The senior member of the committee in point of service is the Chair. It serves as a board of arbitration. It is set up to act as an intermediary between patients and physicians in matters of miscommunication and misunderstanding and to help resolve conflicts that interfere with physician-patient and physician-physician relationships. All matters of discipline are directed to this committee for investigation, consideration, and recommendation. Liaison Committee with Office Managers The Liaison Committee with Office Managers is charged with maintaining communications with office managers. They also will assist, when possibly, in resolving issues which affect offices such as timeliness of payment, coding problems and other insurance or practice related matters. Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee is charged with finding committed candidates who will continue the momentum begun with this reorganization. It consists of five members. Three are elected by membership at the January Annual Meeting and two are elected by the Board of Trustees at their January meeting. Members of the Board may not serve on the Nominating Committee. The members of this committee serve a one-year term. Sports Medicine The Sports Medicine Committee is designed to serve as a resource for community groups having sports, fitness and wellness programs by assisting with the development of education programs and materials relative to injury prevention and treatment. It also encourages greater awareness of the health benefits of increased physical activities by all members of the community. This committee coordinated the Team Physician Program, which provides three to five physicians for each of the eleven Albuquerque Public High Schools. The physicians provide physicals for the student-athletes as well as medical coverage at football games.
